Because China isn't celebrating New Year at the same time as the rest of the world, Dubai is next in our list. Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) south east of the Persian Gulf. Dubai is very rich because it is rich on oil, and so they spend a lot of money on great fireworks. It is rumoured that even Snoop Dogg will be performing in Dubai to celebrate the occasion!

After people have been celebrating New Year in Asia, it's Europes turn now. New Years Eve in Paris to mark the end of 2012 and start of 2013 will be marked by a spectacular light show centred on the Eiffel Tower. This replaces the more traditional pyrocechnic fireworks display. As well as this there will also be the usual festivities and street party on the Champs Elysees.

On December 31, 1907, a ball signifying New Year's Day was first dropped at Times Square, and the Square has held the main New Year's celebration in New York City ever since. On that night, hundreds of thousands of people congregate to watch the Waterford Crystal ball being lowered on a pole atop the building, marking the new year.

It makes a great backdrop for memorable New Years images. Or Bundle up and head for Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park, where Midnight fireworks cast their reflections onto Lake Michigan.
